Aker Solutions nets Åsgard topside work for Trestakk development

Aker Solutions was awarded on Friday a topside contract by Statoil for delivery to the Trestakk development located in the Norwegian Sea.

The award follows a recent submission by Statoil of the Plan for Development and Operation of the Trestakk discovery to the Norwegian minister for petroleum and energy Tord Lien.

The project will be tied back to the Åsgard A oil production vessel, with planned production startup anticipated in 2019. Trestakk is located in production license PL091, block 6406/3 in the Norwegian Sea some 27 km southeast of Åsgard A unit.

Statoil also on Friday awarded a contract to the FMC Technologies and Technip alliance for an integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract for the Trestakk field.

Statoil said that Aker Solutions in Trondheim will be awarded the contract for the Åsgard topside work. The Åsgard A production vessel will be modified to receive oil and gas from the Trestakk field.

The work mainly consists of piping to connect the well stream to the vessel, and upgrading of the metering systems. The contract will be signed in Trondheim on Friday.

Aker Solutions was previously awarded the topside Front end Engineering Design (FEED) contract for the Trestakk field tie-in to the existing Åsgard A vessel in January this year.

Torger Rød, senior vice president for project development in Statoil, said: “Statoil has cooperated closely with partners and suppliers to reduce development costs for the Trestakk field. We submitted the plan for development and operation to the authorities on 1 November, and we are pleased to be able to award contracts already now to FMC Technologies, Technip and Aker Solutions.

“The Trestakk development is important to maintain activity on the Norwegian continental shelf.”

Statoil is the operator of the Trestakk discovery with a 59.1 percent interest while the two partners, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway and Eni, have a 33 and 7.9 percent interest respectively.
