Anglo-Eastern, Univan Join Forces

Third party ship management companies Anglo-Eastern and Univan have decided to merge their activities and form a new company named the Anglo-Eastern Univan Group.

The merger, announced late Friday, will see the new company take under its wing over 600 vessels,  100 under crew management and a pool of over 24,000 seafarers and more than 1,700 shoreside staff.

The newly created entity will operate under the helm of Anglo-Eastern boss Peter Cremers, who will be the chairman, whereas Univan head Bjorn Hojgaard will be the CEO.

The two companies said in a joint statement that the merger would create an “industry leader”.

“There are significant scale advantages in ship management arising from a global foot print and better career opportunities for both seafarers and shore staff which are of benefit to a ship manager’s customers, the shipowners,” the statement reads.

According to the statement, for the time being the duo will continue to operate as separate entities from their existing offices in Singapore and Hong Kong.
