Applied Weather Technology switches name to StormGeo

The shipping division of meteorological services provider StormGeo, Applied Weather Technology (AWT), has been renamed to match its parent company name.

StormGeo, a provider of advanced analytics and meteorological services for weather sensitive operations serving the offshore industry with more than 500 projects underway, is headquartered in Bergen, Norway.

The company provides comprehensive and customized offshore weather forecasts and monitoring packages, along with support to ensure safety, increase efficiency, and minimize environmental impact at every stage of an offshore oil and gas project.

Apart from the o&g market, the company also services the shipping, corporate enterprise, and renewables industries.

StormGeo said on Tuesday that it acquired AWT in January of 2014 and the company provided shipping products and services with more than 60,000 voyages per year as part of the StormGeo group.

Richard Brown of StormGeo, said: “Also, as part of StormGeo, we will be utilizing the group’s capabilities in advanced analytics and deep learning to continuously improve our services.”
