Apply Sørco’s training and manuals for Statoil’s Mariner FSU

Norway’s Apply Sørco has secured a contract from Statoil UK related to the company’s Mariner B Floating Storage Unit.

The main project scope is development of system descriptions and operational procedures (SO manuals). Optional work includes development of training material such as system classroom courses, e-learning courses and OJT’s (On-the-Job Training). It also includes as-built work on P&ID’s, loop diagrams and C&E diagrams.

The contract has a duration of 2 years, and an 1 + 1 year option.

“Apply Sørco has an ongoing SO Framework Agreement with Statoil, and has developed both operational documentation and training material for most of Statoil’s new installations on the NCS the last 10 years. We are very pleased to continue the good cooperation with Statoil, now also in UK. The project starts in August, and will continue until next summer,” Apply Sørco said.

The Mariner FSU reached Scotland in August 2016, after a long journey from South Korea where it was constructed.

The Mariner B will be receiving, storing and offloading the oil produced at the Statoil operated Mariner field in the UK North Sea.

It will also play a role in the production process as storage for diluent, which will be mixed with the heavy Mariner oil during the production process to enhance processing and increase the value of the crude. Total storage capacity is around 850,000 barrels, of which around 150,000 barrels is reserved for diluent.

The Mariner field development concept includes a production, drilling and quarters (PDQ) platform based on a steel jacket – Mariner A – connected to a floating storage unit (FSU), Mariner B.

The development of the Mariner field will contribute more than 250 million barrels of reserves with average plateau production of around 55,000 barrels per day.
