Aquabotix Makes Another Leadership Change

Aquabotix has named Whitney Million its new chief executive officer as David Batista stepped down from his position just four months after his appointment.

Whitney Million, new CEO of Aquabotix

Million will also join the company as the president and CEO of the U.S. subsidiary, Aquabotix Technology Corporation, prior to April 18, 2018.

This makes it the third CEO for Aquabotix. Batista took over CEO position in November last year from Durval Tavares – the founder of the company, who remained as Aquabotix chief technology officer.

However, Tavares stepped down from that position as well as from the board of ATC in March this year.

The new CEO – Million is joining the company from defense and security company BAE Systems.

Additionally, Alexander Blyskun has been appointed as the chief technology officer of the Aquabotix Technology Corporation, effective April 16, 2018. He was a senior systems engineer with defense contractor Northrop Grumman.

Peter James, the company’s chairman, stated, “Aquabotix has built the infrastructure to position the company for success in the nascent underwater drone industry. The company’s major focus is now on growth, especially in military markets around the world. It is the right time to transition the management focus accordingly, and Ms. Million and Mr. Blyskun bring demonstrable experience and connectivity in that space to the company.”

David Batista, the company’s outgoing CEO, said: “I was privileged to have been able to lead the company during the recent months and am glad that the board has been able to utilise my review of the business and my recommendations. Aquabotix is working on a number of exciting short and medium-term initiatives, and I believe that I leave the company in good hands.”
