ARGE Team Wins DolWin3 Maintenance Contract

GE Grid GmbH has awarded OIS Offshore Industrie Service and Green Wind Offshore, gathered around the ARGE O&M Project, with a contract to provide maintenance for the 900MW DolWin3 offshore grid connection system.

The contract consists of a multi-month preparatory phase as well as the ensuing 5-year maintenance phase, and includes both maintenance activities on the DolWin Gamma conversion station, currently under construction, and the Dörpen West substation.

The DolWin3 is a direct current connection system in the southwestern part of the German North Sea.

Once completed by the end of this year, the DolWin3 will connect two offshore wind farms from the DolWin cluster to the 400kV substation in Dörpen West.

DolWin Gamma, an offshore converter station, is located about 50km north of Borkum in a water depth of about 30m. It is a daughter platform to the DolWin Alpha and connected to it via a fixed bridge.

The ARGE is responsible for the complete planning, organization and execution of the maintenance on the basis of an in-house developed maintenance concept.

The main elements of the concept are the establishment of a 24/7 control room, which monitors the entire plant operation and status as well as an overview of all operational teams and their activities; as well as a storage, logistics and operational base in Wiesmoor near the transformer substation.
