Environment

The assembly process for Sabella’s D10 tidal turbine has begun in the port of Brest, Sabella announced.

The base for the tidal turbine which will be installed in Fromveur Passage has arrived to the port of Brest. The base is 20 metres by 20 metres in size, and it will carry a turbine of 10 metres in diameter, it is reported by France 3.

The assembly process will last from January to April, when the first 1 MW tidal turbine is scheduled for deployment. If this is successful, three more turbines with twice as much capacity will be installed in the next three years, according to France 3.

The electricity produced from the turbines will be fed to the grid connection of the Ushant island.
