Atkins Names New Head of Decommissioning

Atkins’ oil and gas business has appointed John Spiteri as head of decommissioning, based in Aberdeen.

John will help to support clients to plan, manage and deliver the decommissioning of their assets, the company said.

John said: “My priority in tackling this challenging role is to work with the team to develop our already strong offering into a class-leading range of decommissioning services. Atkins’ independence, expertise and flexible approach means it is uniquely placed in this field.”

Alex Campbell, managing director of Atkins’ oil and gas business, said: “John’s long and impressive career in decommissioning planning and management, much of which has been gained within operators, will be a major asset as we help assist clients to better understand and solve their problems. Decommissioning is a major business area for us, developed over 20 years of experience, as an extension of our mature asset management service. I’m pleased to welcome John to the team and we’re excited to work with him.”

With previous roles at ConocoPhillips, Talisman Energy, Hess, Aker Kvaerner Operations and Amec, John has over 20 years of experience in providing project management, operational support and late life management of oil and gas installations.
