APLNG Contract Goes to DHL

Australia Pacific LNG said it  has awarded DHL with the contract to manage all the transportation logistics involved in the upstream gas gathering component of its CSG to LNG project.

As part of the contract, DHL will provide complete end to end management of all Australia Pacific LNG’s domestic and international freight forwarding and project logistics, including the transportation of thirty purpose built compressor units, some exceeding 1,500 tonnes for the gas processing plants.

Origin General Manager Australia Pacific LNG Project Delivery and Major Development Projects, Janet Hann said the award of the logistics contract was a significant milestone for the Project.

Freight management and associated work is critical to a project of this scale because it ensures that crucial pieces of equipment and infrastructure arrive on time and as scheduled,” Ms Hann said.

DHL is a world leading express and logistics company and we will benefit from its global presence and experience in managing large scale infrastructure projects such as this.”

Shipments of key gas gathering and processing infrastructure and equipment began this week and will continue over the next three years.

DHL Global Forwarding South Pacific, CEO, Tony Boll said the company employed more than 3,000 people across Australia and would draw on this wealth of local knowledge to meet the Project’s logistical requirements.

“DHL is recognised as a global leader in industrial projects and we are very excited by this opportunity to work with Australia Pacific LNG on a major Australian project,” said Mr Boll.

Australia Pacific LNG is a joint venture project between Origin, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec that includes development of existing coal seam gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins and construction of a gas transmission pipeline from the gas fields to an LNG facility to be developed on Curtis Island in Gladstone.
