Australia: Velocious Wins Contract for Subsea Work on Chevron’s Gorgon Field

Belmont-based subsea engineering and remote technology firm Velocious has won a contract for specialist subsea work on Chevron’s $43 billion Gorgon liquefied natural gas project.

Velocious said it is currently designing and fabricating components and tooling for a subsea pipeline, which will become an integral part for the offshore operations of the Gorgon project.

The company said it was also providing hardware and other onshore services for Gorgon.

The 2011 WA Business News Rising Star award winner’s director Brett Silich said the Chevron contract was an opportunity to play a role in a flagship project for the Asia-Pacific region.

Chevron was prepared to give our local content services a genuine chance and the results have been great for both parties,” Mr Silich said.

We worked closely with them on some challenging development work for the Gorgon Project subsea pipelines and, within that successful process, they identified us as worthy of showcasing to the wider oil and gas community.

The whole experience has been an integral part of our development and we remain extremely grateful for the opportunity presented to us.”
