BAE Systems Splashes State-of-the-Art PSV

BAE Systems has launched the platform supply vessel (PSV) ‘Breeze’, the first of four GPA 675J PSV designs, for Jackson Offshore Operators, LLC.

Employees and executives from both companies attended the ceremony at BAE’s Jacksonville, Florida yard.

The GPA 675J PSV design is provided by Guido Perla & Associates, Inc. of Seattle. Each of the four Jackson Offshore Operators PSVs will be qualified under the U.S. Jones Act and will measure 252 feet in length and 60 feet in width.

PSV ‘Breeze’ is equipped with an integrated Rolls-Royce ship systems package inclusive of low-voltage active front end diesel electric systems and a complete Rolls-Royce propulsion package with Azipull propulsion thrusters.

The first of the new vessels, which will support drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico, is scheduled for delivery in May 2014 with the second one to follow in September. The 3rd and 4th vessel will be completed and handed over in 2015.
