Bandar Abbas Hosts First Foreign Ship after Sanctions Lift

Wan Hai 512, a 4,680 TEU vessel owned by Thailand-based shipper Wan Hai Lines, has become the first international vessel to call at the port of Shahid Rajayee in Bandar Abbas after lifting of sanctions on the southern Iranian port on 15 July, Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization said.

 
The vessel was heading from Singapore, followed by Jebel Ali before reaching  Shahid Rajayee.

Once berthed, the ship, covering 260 meters in length, 33 meters in width, proceeded to loading with 6,000 TEU containers.

Three additional internationl shipping lines are expected to arrive in the port soon as well, as explained by Ali Jahandide, Deputy Head of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization, who also announced activities on attracting more foreign shipping lines to the port.

“The shipping lines of countries like India, China, Taiwan and South Korea are sending more vessels to Iranian ports,”
Jahandide told Fars News Agency.
