Bangladesh Prime Minister Inaugurates Sundalpur Gas Field

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the Shahjadpur-Sundalpur gas field. Bapex has finished drilling of around 3600M at Sundulpur and found a gas reserve at a depth of 1500M from the ground.

The Gas field is situated in Companygonj Upajela under Noakhali district. The project was approved by ECNEC in June 2008. BAPEX has completed 200 lkm seismic and after interpretation of the data has finalized the well location.

District Administration officials and Awami League leaders welcomed the Prime Minister in the Noakhali’s Companyganj Government Majid College field. Later Energy Secretary, Chairman, Petrobangla, Managing Director of BAPEX and many high officials welcomed her in the gas field.

The gas field has been feeding the national grid since 17th March, 2012 at an average rate of 10 MMCFD.
