BC: throne speech emphasizes importance of LNG industry

In a speech from the throne, Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon set out the government’s intention to pass a comprehensive legislative framework for an LNG industry that will transform British Columbia’s economy for generations to come.

Legislation to be introduced in the fall session will provide increased certainty for proponents of potential LNG projects, ensure fair benefits for British Columbians, establish B.C. as a competitive environment for investment in this key industry, and protect our environment.

“This session is a crucial moment for British Columbia, as we work to sustain our natural gas industry and drive it to new heights through export to Asia-Pacific countries,” said Premier Christy Clark.

Done right, LNG is an opportunity to create 100,000 family-supporting jobs and continue investing in the public services we depend on,” Clark added
