Beacon Offshore Appoints Manager of ROV Division

Beacon Offshore Ltd. announced the appointment of Vergne Caldwell as Manager of its Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) division.

Caldwell will manage a fleet of ROVs provided through Seatrepid of Louisiana USA. Initially the fleet will include the Sub-Atlantic Mohican, which is a compact and powerful ROV system with IMCA Class II capabilities. The Mohican and its TMS will be integrated on the DSV “Beacon Surveyor” which, with an overall length of 45m, also features an integrated and IMCA certified dive system. The DSV “Beacon Surveyor” is based at Sattahip Naval Port.

Bob Christ, SeaTrepid’s President and founder, commented: “I think this is an excellent synergistic alliance and a true win-win for all involved – not least for Beacon’s large S.E. Asia customers who are looking for cost-saving alternatives in this period of austerity. SeaTrepid will provide Beacon full-service ROV and robotics support, and as demand increases it is expected that the fleet of Thai based ROV systems will increase substantially.”

Claus Jorgensen, Managing Director of Beacon Offshore Ltd. agreed, stating: “We are very excited about working with SeaTrepid. We have an excellent working relationship with them and are very confident in SeaTrepid’s capability to provide technically superior solutions. Our customers will benefit from SeaTrepid’s deep equipment pool and long experience in the ROV business.”
