Belgium: Antwerp Hosts GreenPort Congress

Antwerp Hosts GreenPort Congress

The GreenPort Congress is being held this week in the Hilton Hotel in Antwerp, sponsored by Antwerp Port Community.

The Congress offers the 185 participants a sharing and discussion platform for exchanging experience and know-how concerning the latest trends and developments in the field of the environment and sustainability.

This year once again, innovative developments in equipment and technology are being explained on the basis of practical examples and case studies. The main theme of the conferences is how policy – in particular the policy of port authorities – can help to make port activities more sustainable.

The port of Antwerp seeks to position itself as the sustainability leader in the Hamburg – Le Havre range. While the striving for economic development continues unabated, the future will be increasingly determined by aspects of sustainability that influence port activities.

The second Sustainability Report published by the Antwerp port community expresses this effort to give sustainability a prominent place in port operation.
