Berge Bulk Names Handy Newbuild

Singapore-based dry bulk vessel owner and operator Berge Bulk has named its new Handy bulk carrier, Berge Snaefell.

The 38,000 dwt newbuilding was named in Japan on January 9, 2018.

The vessel, which will fly the flagĀ of the Isle of Man, is completing its construction at the Imabari shipyard.

Featuring a length of 180 meters and a width of 29.8 meters, the vessel has been fitted with several fuel efficient features and an energy efficient design. The bulker is equipped with four deck cranes enabling flexibility in the use as it is able to discharge its own cargoes, Isle of Man Ship Registry said.

Berge Snaefell’s first sailing will be from New Zealand to China, according to the registry.

The new ship currently has a market value of USD 21.17 million, VesselsValue’s data shows.

The bulker is joining Berge Bulk’s fleet of more than 70 vessels.
