BG Group resumes production from Knarr

BG Group has re-started production from its Knarr oil field located offshore Norway.

The production was shut down last week when fire broke out on the Petrojarl Knarr FPSO. According to BG Group, there was a small electrical fire in a heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit in a technical room of the vessel.

The Petrojarl Knarr FPSO is operating for BG Group on the Knarr field, in the Norwegian North Sea. It has been leased from Teekay Corporation and is moored approximately 120 kilometers off the Norwegian coast.

BG Group brought the FPSO Petrojarl Knarr online earlier this month. The vessel has a production capacity of 63 000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and a storage capacity of 800 000 barrels.

BG Group is the operator of the field with a 45% working interest. Partners include Idemitsu Petroleum Norge (25%), Wintershall Norge (20%) and DEA Norge AS (10%).
