‘Bibby Wavemaster 1’ ready for Total

Offshore support vessel Bibby WaveMaster 1, owned by Bibby Marine Services, is ready to begin work for Total E&P Netherlands, following a completed charter in the offshore wind sector.

Bibby said that the vessel was preparing to begin the contract with Total on April 5.

The company added that the vessel recently completed its first charter with James Fisher Marine Services at the Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, which started immediately following the naming of the vessel in Rotterdam in September 2017.

Stephen Bolton, managing director of Bibby Marine Services, said: “[Galloper has] been a great test and we are pleased that all parties have benefited from this new Bibby offering that builds directly on 217 years of history. We now look forward to building on this experience with Total in the Dutch gas sector where I am confident we will deliver to even greater heights.”

To remind, Total E&P Netherland chartered the Bibby WaveMaster 1 back in July 2017 on a seven-month deal. The deal, which has options to be extended for up to three years, will start in April and end in October 2018.

Total will use Bibby WaveMaster 1 to replace jack-ups and helicopters and provide W2W access to gas platforms in the southern North Sea.

The Bibby WaveMaster 1, the first of Damen’s purpose-built Service Operations Vessels (SOV) with Walk-to-Work (W2W) capability, was officially launched at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania on March 24, 2017.
