BigRoll to carry on as part of Roll Group

BigRoll, a joint venture company between BigLift Shipping and Rolldock Shipping, will continue operating as part of Roll Group after the cooperation between the two members officially ends next year.

The two companies announced the formation of the joint company back in May 2013 with a focus on the offshore and onshore oil and gas and renewables markets, power generation, container cranes, and shipyard industries.

However, BigLift Shipping last week decided to leave the BigRoll Shipping joint venture, starting from January 1, 2018.

As a result, BigRoll’s heavy transport vessels BigLift Barentsz and BigLift Baffin will be added to BigLift fleet.

Roll Group said on Sunday that, with the merger of the BigRoll organization, Roll Group would expand its fleet with the MC-class vessels, BigRoll Bering and BigRoll Beaufort, in combination with the five existing semi-submersible Ro-Ro vessels.

The five RollDock vessels are flexible, multi-functional semi-submersible vessels equipped with a Ro-Ro ramp capable of carrying up to 4,000mt and two port-side mounted cranes each capable of lifting 350 mt each.

“Roll Group can benefit from the many years of engineering and project execution experience of RollDock and BigRoll at sea and Roll-Lift on land. Roll Group can offer full scope services to integrate engineered land and sea solutions, eliminating interface challenges for our clients,” the company said.
