Brazil: BSEE Director Delivers Keynote at Rio Oil & Gas Conference

Late last week, Director Watson traveled to Rio De Janeiro to participate in the 2012 Rio Oil & Gas Conference.

While there, he delivered a keynote address, focusing his remarks on offshore operational safety on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf.

The Rio Oil & Gas Conference takes place every two years and is widely attended by senior government authorities, academia, industry executives and professional experts from around the world.

After his speech, Director Watson met with senior authorities from Brazil’s National Agency for Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels to discuss their regulatory system.

During the meeting, he reviewed the regulatory reforms put in place by the U.S. following the Deepwater Horizon tragedy and learned about Brazil’s regulatory regime.
