Brazil: Eletrobras to Take Stake in Chinese Offshore Wind Project

Government-controlled Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA, or Eletrobras, could team up with China’s Three Gorges Corp. on wind-power projects, the Fox Business news site writes.

Namely, Brazilian officials signed an agreement in February to work with Three Gorges which opened the possibility for companies’ partnership. Thus, Eletrobras is now looking into building 200MW of wind power in China, taking a minority stake in an offshore wind project through its Furnas subsidiary.

Additionally, the company was offered a partnership in onshore wind projects too, but decided to get a better understanding of technology through working only on offshore wind farms.
