Brokers: Kumiai Navigation Linked to Bulker Pair Deal

Kumiai Navigation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese shipowner Kumiai Senpaku, has reportedly ordered two bulkers at Chinese yards, according to Clarksons Platou Shipbroking.

Based on the report, Kuminai placed an order for one 208,000 dwt Newcastlemax at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) and one 61,000 dwt Ultramax with the sister yard Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS).

Both ships are scheduled for delivery in June 2020.

Based on the data from VesselsValue, Kuminai Senpaku has 18 live vessels in its fleet, dominated by bulkers (11), followed by three LPG carriers , and four tankers. The company has one midsize gas carrier on order at Namura Shipbuilding set for delivery in 2019.

Clarksons added that Nanjing Twin Rivers Shipping ordered a pair of 60,000 dwt, wide beam, general cargo vessels from Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding for delivery within the second half of 2020.
