BSH Lists Offshore Wind Projects Proposed for Germany

German Maritime and Hydrography Agency (BSH) has published a list of proposed offshore wind projects in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, excluding projects which are in operation, in trial operation or under construction.

The basis for the publication of the list is the national offshore wind energy act (WindSeeG), which combines a new tendering system with the planning and permitting process for offshore wind farms. The act will enter into force on 1 January 2017 and the first auction is planned for March 2017.

The objective is to increase the clarity of the projects as to whether they meet the requirements. In addition, the competition situation for the transition phase in accordance with the WindSeeG should be better assessed by all stakeholders, the agency said.

BSH pointed out that the list is only informative and does not imply which projects are allowed to participate in the tendering phase according to the WindSeeG and that the list does not include statements on the possibility of approval and implementation.

The list comprises 31 projects planned for German sectors of the North and Baltic Sea.
