Bulker and Tug Collide at Port-Cartier

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has deployed a team of investigators to Port-Cartier, Québec, where the tug Vachon  collided with the bulk carrier Orient Crusader.

The accident happened during the berthing outmaneuvers in Quebec’s Port-Cartier in the Saint Lawrence gulf when the 1973-built tug collided with the 114,900-dwt Orient Crusader built in 2010.

Cyprus-based Interorient is the owner of the Orient Crusader bulk carrier, while Quebec Cartier owns the tug Vachon.

The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.
