A bulker was arrested on Tuesday in Newcastle, Australia for unpaid bunker costs worth USD 258,338.

The 240-metre Jo Jin Maru’s unpaid bill dates back to fuel ordered in February and supplied in Hiang Jin port, China in March.

The fuel was supplied by Dubai-based Prima Marine FZE, which is seeking USD 291,661 in additional charges.

“The subject vessel was arrested on Tuesday 10 : 32 AM Australian local time. The vessel is still under arrest,” Prima Marine told World Maritime News.

According to the arrest notice, seen by World Maritime News, the warrant was lodged on May 4th with the Australian Federal Court and taken out by Joseph Alan Hurley of HWL Ebsworth, solicitor of the plaintiff, Prima Marine FZE.

The Panama-flagged  vessel is said to be owned by Tsuineishi Group, whereas the outstanding debt is attributed to South Korean SW Shipping that chartered out the 2012-built vessel.

The DNV-classed vessel is managed by Union Marine Management Services Pte. Ltd.
