BW LNG hits BW Paris FSRU conversion milestone

BW LNG, a unit of the Singapore-based gas shipping giant BW Group, reached a milestone in its BW Paris LNG carrier conversion project. 

The 2009-build liquefied natural gas carrier, built by the South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) is currently being converted to a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) at the Keppel shipyard.

In a brief social media update, BW LNG said that the vessels three regasification modules have been lifted onboard.

Keppel’s scope of work on the BW Paris includes repair and life extension works, shipyard engineering, installation and integration of the regasification module and upgrading of the cargo handling system.

Once the conversion is complete the vessel will be capable of holding 171,793 cubic meters of the chilled fuel and will be capable of regasifying up to 750 million metric standard cubic feet of natural gas per day.
