Canada: Suncor Starts Terra Nova FPSO Maintenance

Canada Suncor Starts Terra Nova FPSO Maintenance

Suncor Energy reports it has begun its planned maintenance program on the Terra Nova Floating Production, Storage and Offloading facility (FPSO), located approximately 350 kilometres southeast of St. John’s, N.L, Canada. The planned maintenance program is expected to last approximately 11 weeks.

As mentioned in Suncor’s second quarter 2013 results, a routine inspection earlier this year of the Terra Nova facility indicated that one of nine mooring chains was damaged. Consequently, the company extended the previously planned four-week maintenance program to 11 weeks in order to repair the mooring chain and perform preventive maintenance on the remaining eight chains.

The planned maintenance is expected to support safe, reliable operation of the Terra Nova FPSO. There will be no production from Terra Nova during this maintenance period; production impact has already been factored into Suncor’s annual guidance.
