Cargo Ship Runs Aground, Suffers Hull Breach off Sweden

A cargo vessel was damaged after grounding in the Bråviken bay, off Sweden, the Swedish Maritime Administration said today.

The 3,900 dwt Listervik allided with rocky bottom west of Oxelösund.

The open hatch singledecker suffered a hull breach, followed by water ingress.

Listervik was escorted by Swedish Coast Guard ships to the Port of Oxelosund where it moored in the morning hours of February 8.

No injuries to the ship’s crew members have been reported.

At the time of the incident, the Faroe Islands-flagged ship was en route to Norrköping, Sweden, from Nakskov, Denmark, carrying a cargo of wheat.

Built in 1996, the ship is owned by Swedish Uman Rederi AB, according to data provided by VesselsValue.
