Carnival Cruise Line will bring its Carnival Magic cruise ship to Port Canaveral in April 2016, eight months earlier than previously planned.

Carnival Magic will step in for Carnival Valor’s current seven-day Port Canaveral cruise program on April 23, 2016.

Carnival Breeze will reposition to Galveston in May 2016 assuming Carnival Magic’s year-round schedule of seven-day Galveston cruises beginning May 8, 2016.

“Galveston and Port Canaveral are two important markets for Fun Ship cruising and these deployment changes provide our guests and travel agent partners with exciting new options featuring a variety of on-board innovations and visiting top destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico, Bahamas and Florida,” said line president Christine Duffy in a press release.

Duffy said this ship redeployment will enhance Carnival’s leadership position in two key home ports: Port Canaveral and Galveston, Texas.

Carnival Magic joins the Carnival Valor and Carnival Sunshine in sailing from Central Florida.

“We applaud Carnival’s decision to move up the arrival of Carnival Magic to join Carnival Valor and Carnival Sunshine so their passengers who sail from Orlando’s Port will have more options,” said Port Canaveral CEO John E. Walsh.

Carnival Valor and Carnival Sunshine will sail a variety of five- and eight-day eastern, western and southern Caribbean itineraries. Carnival Valor will undergo extensive renovations to add a variety of Fun Ship 2.0 innovations. Carnival Victory will homeport at Port Canaveral in February 2016 and sail three- and four-day Bahamas cruises.
