The United States Coast Guard medevaced a 41-year-old passenger from the cruise ship Carnival Magic while the vessel was some 100 miles southwest of Key West.

Watchstanders with the Seventh Coast Guard District Command Center received a call from the cruise ship, owned by Miami-based cruise ship company Carnival Cruise Line, stating that one of their passengers was suffering chest pains and needed to be medevaced.

The watch standers directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to assist the man who reportedly suffered symptoms of a heart attack.

The helicopter crew hoisted the patient, took him to the air station to awaiting EMS personnel and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
