Business & Finance

Chile’s Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica (CCNI) has inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Norden Shipping (Singapore) Pte.Ltd. for the purchase of two 50,000 DWT tankers.

The tankers, intended for the transport of petroleum products and derivatives, are each priced at USD 36.5 million.

The ships will be leased to the country’s energy coglomerate Empresa Nacional del Petroleo (ENAP) for the period of five years, CCNI said.

Names of the tankers and age have not been disclosed.

German carrier Hamburg Süd signed a deal to acquire CCNI’s container liner activities this February.

Should the deal get approved, Hamburg Süd will operate the CCNI container liner business in the main trades between the West Coast of South America, Asia, Europe and North America respectively.
