Centrica Energi Gets Approval to Drill Well in North Sea (Norway)

Centrica Energi has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 8/10-4S in the North Sea with the Mærsk Guardian mobile facility.

The well will be drilled in production licence 405, with Centrica as the operator (40%). The other licensees are Petro-Canada (30%), Spring Energy (15%) and Faroe Petroleum (15%).

The well is located approx. 260 kilometres southwest of Stavanger and has the following geographical coordinates:

N 57° 03’ 53.800”, E 03° 02’ 43.601”. The water depth at the site is approx. 66 metres. The activity has a planned duration of at least 62 days, depending on any discoveries.

Mærsk Guardian is a jack-up drilling facility built in 1986 at the Hitachi yard in Japan. It is operated by Maersk Drilling Norge AS.  The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway in November 2002.
