Chevron Hires GSF Arctic III for North Sea Drilling

Transocean has secured a $48 million drilling contract for its GSF Arctic III semi-submersible rig.

The rig will be used by Chevron on a two-well contract in the U.K. sector of the North Sea at a dayrate of $410,000. The rig’s previous dayrate was $339,000.

Furthermore, in its fleet status report issued yesterday, the Swiss-based offshore drilling contractor said that the high-specification jack-up rig, GSF Monitor, is held for sale. The rig was previously idle.
