Chile’s Quintero LNG terminal boosts capacity

Chile’s Quintero LNG terminal has completed a US$30 million expansion project boosting its regasification capacity by 50 percent to 15Mm3/d.

The expansion project, which took 17 months to complete, will also double the amount of gas transported by truck to 2,500 m3/d from the LNG terminal, GNL Quintero, the operator of the facility, said in a statement.

GNL Quintero is the first land-based LNG receiving, unloading, storage and regasification terminal built in the southern hemisphere.

It is a joint venture of Enap (20%), Endesa Chile (20%), Metrogas (20%), and Terminal de Valparaíso (Enagas, Oman Oil) which holds 40 percent in the project.
