China: Changxing Completes Manufacture of Hatch Covers for Jiangsu Shipyard

Recently, CIC Changxing shipyard successfully completed the manufacture of five sets of hatch cover for CIC Jiangsu Shipyard. Hereto, the shipyard has made a solid and important step on the steel manufacturing field.

From the first batch of the material’s arrival in March to the overall delivery at the end of December, on the premise of entering the building field of the hatch cover for the first time, the shipyard has fulfilled the achievement of delivering one set of the hatch cover every two months with qualified quality. This has also utterly dispelled the ship owners’ doubts about the speed and quality of the shipyard.

During the process of hatch cover building, dealing with the lack of the experience in non-ship repair project, meeting the short period of construction and great difficulty, the high requirement on technology and quality, the shipyard paid a lot of attention on the project and organized a project team exclusively. Under the care and support of the shipyard leaders, the hatch cover building technique has been improved constantly, the process has been optimized continuously. From the material prefabrication and the section assembly to the general assembly of all sections, a comparatively mature production line has been gradually formed. Through the active organizing and reasonable planning by the engineering department, the departments and workshops cooperated closely, strictly completed every detail throughout the manufacture, so that the hatch covers were successfully accepted at the delivery and inspection process, which got the unanimous approval from the ship owners.
