Chengxi Shipyard Launches Floating Transfer Station Royal Sesa

The floating transfer station (FTS) Royal Sesa, which was built for SESAGOA, was successfully launched few days ago from the Chengxi Shipyard facilities in Jiangyin, China.

The launching ceremony was held on July 2nd 2012. The vice president Mr. Cao Xue Ming and Mr. Ji Jun from Chengxi, the general manager (technical) Mr. T. Satish from Owner side and other related persons attended the ceremony.

The FTS has a total length of 92.4 meters, 28 meters wide with depth of 6.5 m, the hull structural weight of about 2600 tons

While the fundamental usage of the FTS is transfer of dry bulk cargo from one vessel or barge to another, the simplicity of the design allows easy adaptation to suit any requirement.

They can be utilised for:

  • Cargo unloading from ocean going bulk carriers into barges
  • Cargo loading from barges onto ocean going bulk carriers
  • Cargo transportation from the ocean going vessel to the discharging berth

Each component of the system is adapted to suit the particular requirements of the clients. A component wise analysis is given vis-à-vis the application of each system.
