China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Completes Repair Works for MV PRELUDE

CIC Changxing Shipyard, on February 29th 2012, successfully managed to re-deliver Libra Shipping’s bulk carrier PRELUDE. The 28 years old vessel, owned by the Greek company Libra Shipping S.A. founded in 2005, entered the shipyard in a very bad condition. The repair project, thanks to PRELUDE’s condition, covered almost all major repair works that can be done on a vessel.

Every top-side ballast water tank, from the fore-peak tank to sea chests, needed a huge amount of welding and grinding. Also, the frames in cargo holds had to be removed as well as some double bottom tanks. After 20 days of hard working, on Feb. 29th 2012, the repair project for MV PRELUDE was completed and the vessel was sent to its owners.
