CIC Changxing Shipyard Delivers Repaired Dock Gate

On January 31st 2012, along with the submerging of “Jiu Hua Shan” floating dock, Waigaoqiao Dock Gate No.2 was successfully delivered after only 13 days of repairing, which was another landmark project in the history of CIC Changxing Shipyard.

Waigaoqiao Dock Gate No.2 was 15.2 m high, 80 m long and 10 m wide. It is a floating caisson with 6 ballast pumps, 2 dredging pumps, 1 bilge pump and 10 electric butterfly valves. The main jobs of this project included: dock gate back-wood and rubber renewal, 10 water injecting valves, cable diverting and ballast tank and tidal tank coating. The repair schedule was 13 days, but the shipyard began to prepare one month before the gate’s arrival. The engineering dept. organized the relevant departments to investigate on the site in Waigaoqiao Shipyard several times, held special meetings, which ensured the on-time delivery of this project. All workshops thought what the ship owners’ thought, guaranteed the sailing date, especially the machinery workshop and the coating workshop.

During the Spring Festival the shipyard leaders went to the site to guide the work many times to ensure the schedule, as well as the safety and quality. From the repair manager and supervisors to the workshop personnel kept an eye on the spot, solved problems as soon as possible, so that every step of the process went smoothly and the project was completed successfully.
