China: CIC Shipyard Completes Repair of HAMBURG SÜDs Container Ship MV Bahia Laura

MV Bahia Laura, “Bahia” class from HAMBURG SÜD and one of its six identical 3,752 TEU container ships, arrived for her first special survey repair on May 31, 2011.

The repair period was very tight, only 8 days, so the shipyard planned beforehand and arranged optimal docking slot. During kick-off meeting, the shipyard confirmed the repair scope with owner’s superintendent, then the work was distributed timely. At that early evening of the ship arrival, all supervisors and workers went on board, hoisted and transferred hatch covers ashore at night to ensure the ship could be docked the next day. Every procedure was conducted compactly and smoothly as per the plan, all departments well cooperated and strictly controlled each repair detail, which embodied the shipyard’s high management level.

The owner’s superintendent was very satisfied with good performance of the shipyard, though the repair period was affected by heavy rain. He called in the crews to the deck of the dock “CS EMEISHAN” on June 9 and invited Mr. Zhou Jianhua, AGM of the shipyard to attend the gathering. The superintendent made a splendid speech to the shipyard’s good work, and asked for taking a group photo to mark this good cooperation after his speech, and he also promised that he would propagandize this successful case in Germany.
