China Pledges to Boost Shipping and Shipbuilding

Speaking at the inaugural Danish Maritime Forum in Copenhagen this morning, China’s Vice-Minister of industry and information technology Su Bo pledged to work on enhancing global cooperation in an effort to expand China’s shipping and shipbuilding capacities.


Vice-Minister Su remarked that Chinese shipyards are world leaders according to current orderbooks, but the country will seek to reaffirm that status further.

In his speech, minister Su especially highlighted China’s LNG and offshore projects.

“We are trying to reach international standards in global shipbuilding. In the coming years Chinese shipping will raise the standards of technology and quality,” minister Su said.

Vice-Minister Su Bo is one of four speakers making the opening remarks at the Danish Maritime Forum, the others being Hiroshi Muto, Vice-Minister for Transport, Tourism and International Affairs, Japan; Victor Olersky, Deputy Minister of Transport, Russia, and Tuck Yew Lui, Minister of Transport.
