China: Vroon Takes Delivery of 1.085 TEU Container Vessel MV Istrian Express

Vroon today, Wednesday 28 September 2011, took delivery of MV Istrian Express, a 1,085-TEU container vessel, built at Nanjing Wujiazui Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Nanjing in China. The vessel is so-called “Ice class” and capable of trading in severe cold conditions.

A sister vessel, Italian Express, will be delivered from the Shipyard later this autumn.

In a ceremony held at the Shipyard on 26 July 2011, the vessel was named by Mrs Mieke Zoetemeyer, wife of Mr Frans Zoetemeyer, Superintendent Newbuilding Supervision, Vroon B.V. The vessel will leave the Shipyard next week and commence a time-charter contract with Maersk Lines, with a duration of four to six months.
