CIC Lixin Shipyard Completes Repair of CS FU AN

The repair job of CS FU AN  a cable-laying ship, with LOA 141.5 m. and moulded breadth of 19.6 m was completed recently at CIC Lixin Shipyard.

Her main work scope during the repair entailed 100-tonne steel renewal in three D.B.T, de-rusting by power tooling in two cofferdams & one fresh water tank along with equipment renewal in E/R.

The total repair period lasted 36 days (including 31 days in drydock). The reason why the vessel spent such a long docking period is mainly because she is an offshore project vessel with special internal structure, meaning that all the steel plates that underwent renewal had to be delivered inside through the access openings on the hull shell plate. Meanwhile, the equipment that was renewed in E/R also had to be delivered in the same way.

The owner of CS FU AN is S. B. Submarine Systems Co., Ltd. (SBSS), a joint venture between China Telecom and Global Marine Systems Ltd of UK, a technologically driven marine installation company delivering solutions to the telecommunications, oil and gas and renewable energy markets.

CS Fu An has the ability to perform multi-purpose roles, including ROV support, cable installations, maintenance and offshore construction projects.

The bidding for the vessel was very fierce, however, due to strenuous efforts of China Shipping Industry (Shanghai Pudong) Co., Ltd the tender was finally received.

After 30-day repair, most of the repair activities were completed and passed successfully the inspection & survey with owner’s approval.
