Clinton Marine Undertakes Beatrice UXO Survey

Clinton Marine Survey AB has started unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey along the Beatrice offshore wind farm export cable routes in the Moray Firth on behalf of Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL).

The survey, planned to last for minimum of four weeks, is being undertaken by the M/V Northern Wind vessel.

Due to water depth restrictions, Ocean Server Iver 3 AUV and the CRC Atlas RIB are conducting the survey in the shallow waters area.

The UXO survey involves the coverage of dedicated survey lines by the vessel with a towed gradiometer array.

The vessel is towing a sled with two Geometrics G-882 gradiometers, as well as deploying a small Video Ray ROV for target visual inspection.

The 588MW wind farm that features 84 wind turbines is expected to power approximately 450,000 homes.
