CNOOC said on Friday that Hu Guangjie was named as an executive director and president of the firm.

The company added that Xu Keqiang resigned as the president of the company but would remain an executive director and the chief executive officer (CEO).

According to the CNOOC, the changes will take effect from March 20, 2020.

To remind, Xu was named as the executive director and the president of the company back in April 2017. He became the CEO of CNOOC after Yang Hua left the role in November 2019.

“The board would like to take this opportunity to offer Mr. Hu its sincere congratulations on his appointment as an executive director and the president of the company, as well as express its sincere gratitude to Mr. Xu for his contribution and services as the president of the company,” the CNOOC stated.

Hu Guangjie served in a number of positions in the China Petrochemical Corporation including vice manager of Northwest Oil Field Company, a subsidiary of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation.

He was also the executive vice director of oilfield exploration & production department of Sinopec. In March 2020, Hu was appointed as the VP of CNOOC.
