Swedish tanker shipping company Concordia Maritime and Danish tanker owner and operator Stena Weco have signed a contract for the chartering of two IMO2/3 class MR tankers.

Under a joint chartering arrangement, in which the parties each hold a 50 percent share, the vessels will be hired for one year with the charters running from June and July 2017.

The 2013-built ECO-design tankers will be operated by Stena Weco.

“The arrangement is fully in line with our fleet and chartering strategy. We are exploiting our ability to act quickly when the right opportunity arises – this time by taking positions counter-cyclically and further strengthening our position in the MR segment,” Kim Ullman, CEO of Concordia Maritime, said.

“With access to Stena Weco’s systems and networks, we are convinced that this will be a productive business arrangement,” Ullman added.
