Contractors Selected for Peterhead Scheme 2 Project

Scotland’s Peterhead Port Authority has awarded the contract for Peterhead Scheme 2 project to a joint venture partnership McLaughin & Harvey and Boskalis Westminster.

The project entails the strengthening and deepening of the port, land reclamation with revetment, widening of the harbour entrance, demolition works and improved services throughout.

The harbour would benefit from improved realignment to the existing quay walls and increased draft which will facilitate larger vessels.

Peterhead Harbour’s development plans also include the relocation of existing fish market to the North Harbour.

“While deepening the harbour, the dredged material will be used to create a 430,556sqft reclamation area for future developments, while maximising existing resources and achieving environmental benefits for the scheme,” according to McLaughlin & Harvey.

This scheme is part of an overall redevelopment of Europe’s largest white and pelagic fishing port that will take approximately 18 months to complete.
