COOEC Picks Norwegian Skipsteknisk to Design New Multi Purpose Vessel

 

China Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd (COOEC), a subsidiary of the state owned Chinese oil company CNOOC, has selected the Norwegian ship-designer Skipsteknisk AS, to develop their new state of the art Multi Purpose Subsea Construction vessel.

The vessel designated ST-262, will perform deepwater subsea construction works like, heavy structure lifts with a 400t crane, flex pipe laying, ROV and SAT dive support and Inspection, Maintenance and Repair works (IMR) for subsea installations and Anchor Handling/Mooring.

The MPV will have length of about 140m and beam of about 28m. The vessel is fitted with a 400t offshore crane, 150 men accommodation, Anchor Handling winch.

As for any modern vessel, environmental topics will be emphasized in the design, through installation of SCR catalyst, ballast water treatment system, clean design and optimized hull lines for reduced fuel oil consumption.

The contract award is also seen as a confirmation of the company’s strategy in offering independent design services to Clients in Asia in general. Being an independent designer Skipsteknisk is able to customize and tailor the design and equipment for optimal functionality and economy, based on the Client’s terms.
