CRC Recognizes CGGVeritas for UK Energy Efficiency Excellence

CGGVeritas has been ranked in the top 2% of the UK Government’s Carbon Reduction Committee (CRC) league table published in November 2011. The league table ranks organizations participating in the CRC on how well they manage their energy efficiency. Out of over 2,000 companies listed, CGGVeritas was the highest ranked company from the oil and gas industry.

This achievement follows the award of Carbon Trust Certification to CGGVeritas UK in 2010. Both the new league table and the prestigious certification are part of the UK Government’s Carbon Reduction Commitment Scheme. CGGVeritas UK’s excellent performance in both initiatives reflects the successful implementation of a series of measures that achieved significant energy efficiency results.

Ian Thornton, Director CGGVeritas Services (UK) Ltd, said: “The CRC ranking is welcome recognition that our company-wide commitment to environmental responsibility goes beyond aspiration and has real-world impact. Our UK Facilities and IT teams have worked diligently to optimize our energy usage and we are proud that both our high ranking in the league table and our certification provide such positive examples of the role the oil and gas industry can play in this important arena.”

As a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) since 2007, CGGVeritas is committed to environmental and social responsibility and strongly supports initiatives to develop innovative and practical ways to combine business success with energy efficiency. CGGVeritas was recently selected as the only seismic company for listing in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index (DJSI) based on its strong sustainable development performance and long-term strategic commitment to corporate social responsibility.
