Croatia: Brodosplit to Construct Heavy Lift Vessel for Jumbo Shipping

 

Brodosplit Shipyard and the Dutch shipping company Jumbo Shipping contracted last week in Rotterdam, the construction of ships for the transportation of haevy cargo (the heavy lift ship), with the option of building two more.

Jumbo Shipping is one of the world’s leading shipping company for transportation of heavy or large size cargo, and the ship contracted and being built in the Brodosplit shipyard will be the largest in their fleet.

Ship length of 152 meters and breadth of 27 meters will be equipped with two cranes individual capacity of 1,100 tons. Deadweight in draft of 8.1 meters will be 14.000 tons. Speed ​​of 17 knots will ensure two engines, each of 4500 kW at 750 r/min.

The ship will be built in Lloyd’s Register Class and delivery is planned in the first half of the 2013th.

Heavy lift vessels are sophisticated vessels which will be built for the first time in Croatian shipyards. It is a market that represents Brodosplit strategic intention.
